“This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without feet.” – Rumi
In his earlier days as a footballer, Nigerian-born J. J. Okocha was a master dribbler, easily the most entertaining footballer. Spectators were enthralled to watch him trap the ball, swing to his sides, short-kick the ball, retrieve it and launch forward only to double back all in one deft move that left even his opponents mesmerised with admiration. In all this, he would miss a goal and, where other players would hiss, frown, and grimace in regret, Okocha would burst into a peal of jolly laughter. That was a man who loved his game and played his game, and because he was happy with his game, the spectators loved him.
My friend, living is about love – love for whatever makes you happy. It’s all about love. Love for God, love for man, love for the more beautiful things of life.
So, waste no time searching for the right person, for there’s never a perfect person; instead, spend time creating the right relationship because what counts in the long run is how much you care till the very end.
No doubt some people must have hauled stones in your path last year, and some will still throw some more this year. Let them bring it on, my friend, as long as you build bridges with the stones, not walls.
While building your bridges continually search for beautiful minds, not beautiful faces; while the former always make good angels, the latter make subtle devils. However, you have to first beautify your own mind before you seek the good, because the good you find will always be beautiful.
When you eventually ignite the love for the more beautiful things, you’ll discover that true happiness you never knew existed. It’s a superb strategy to reinventing yourself – it’s the gateway to enjoying this life.
