Be Honest, Even if It Hurts
“Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice deceiving.” – Walter Scott
Being secretive out of fear and insecurity is not really a good idea, for nothing beats honesty – although it sometimes requires a truckload of courage.
The fear of the consequences of honesty sometimes prevents the telling of truth, and boy! That fear is reasonable.
But, have you given it thought that to be honest even in the face of embarrassment and hurt can actually build trust and dependability?
As Laura I. Wilder opines, “The real things haven’t changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; to have courage when things go wrong.”
