Give – For Yourself
“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.” – H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Do you know that the thoughts and consciousness that go with the physical acts of giving and sharing are more important than the very acts of giving and sharing? Therefore, it’s not the quantity of what’s offered that’s important but the intrinsic value to the giver.
How does the giving act make you feel? Do you feel joyful, humbled and thankful for the opportunity, or do you feel drained?
Conditional giving (giving that’s laden with expectations of favour, praise, payment, recognition) leave you exhausted in spirit, but unconditional giving (giving without expected returns or rewards) leave you fulfilled.
Once very often, find a way to give without expecting something in return – no thank you, no reward returnable whatsoever. Most preferably, give anonymously.
Remember, it’s in giving that you receive.
