Senate asks FG to install firefighting equipment in major markets

The Nigerian Senate has asked the Federal Government to install firefighting gear in major markets across the country.

The Senate proposed thin on Thursday after deliberating extensively on the fire disasters that ravaged the Onitsha markets recently, as well as Balogun market in Lagos earlier this week.

The Senate also commended the Federal Government for its promise to assist the victims of the Onitsha fire incident with relief materials and to work with the Anambra State Government to forestall future fire incidences.

The lawmakers, however, asked the Federal Government to include financial support in the package for the affected persons to enable them to restart their businesses.
