An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of a driver, Bello Ismaila, for the alleged murder of a unionist over N100 daily ticket fee.
The prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on September 25 in Igogo-Ekiti, after he refused to pay for the N100 daily ticket issued by the transport union.
Ajayi Femi, the unionist who demanded for the payment got into a fight with Ismaila after he deflated his tyre.
According to Insp. Akinwale, in the course of the fight, the accused “beat the deceased with a deadly charm.”
While the plea of the accused was not taken, the magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, ordered that he be remanded in prison custody, pending advice from the DPP.
The case was however adjourned until 20th November, 2019 for mention. (NAN)
